Monday Motivation: Keeping Peace

Keeping Peace

Pause for a moment. In the rush of your day. In the panic of your soul. And ask yourself. What is keeping me from resting in God’s peace?

Peace comes from a total reliance on God, absolutely trusting Him with the chaos of our lives. Think of Jesus sleeping in the bottom of that boat during the storm. Why did Christ have such peace? Because he had a perfect trust in the power of His Father and in His Father’s plan for his life. He knew it was not God’s plan for him to die on that boat; he also knew that it was God’s plan to bring glory to Himself through the storm.

I lose a spirit of peace when I cling to anything besides God. If I’m clinging to my children, my husband, my money, my home, my job, my relationships—my spirit will be in a constant turmoil of fear as I strive to hold the pieces of my life together by my own sheer force of will.

We find peace by trusting in God’s endless strength and incomparable love. Today, stop bailing water and force yourself to lie down in the bottom of the boat—trusting God’s strength over the storms, trusting His love and goodness at work in your life.

  1. I have to say again I really love this blog. I do not practice the same religion as you, but I am very active in mine. I love your spiritual enlightenments, reinforcing the lessons I have been taught since I was a child. In the chaos of raising three children it is easy to let my spirituality come last. It is so uplifing to start my day off with one of your spiritual thoughts. Thank you so much for taking the time and for sharing your talents with others.

Wow! What a blessing to know that! Thank you for your encouragement, and I’m very thankful that the lessons God is teaching me are helping others.

  2. This is just what I needed this morning.
