Sometimes, it’s easy to get lost in the pressures of academic success, to forget the power of play. I appreciated the perspective of this video, of the power of play and of allowing our kids to fail. I was also challenged by the idea of defining success as a family and structuring our priorities by that definition.
Want to begin crafting your family’s definition of success?
I highly recommend John Piper’s Don’t Waste Your Life. The pdf file of the book is available for free at his website. Read the table of contents to get a feel for the book, hang in there through the first two chapters (which are his testimony and rather intellectual), start changing your whole point of view by chapter 3. It’s a great read as we head into the new school year and refocus our priorities.
