In my life this week…
I’ve been learning much about hospitality. We’ve been blessed with a number of friends coming to visit over the last couple of weeks, and I’ve been very challenged to really think about the differences between entertaining and being hospitable.
We’ve also moved the kids into the same bedroom—and that has been an adventure! This is actually our third try during their short lives. We tried shortly after my daughter was about 9 or 10 months old; she was just old enough to giggle at everything my son did. And having an audience kept him going all night. Then we tried again last fall; but that time, the Little One was just learning how to sleep in a big girl bed. Keeping them both in bed was such a huge struggle that “sleeping” and “together” were just not working in the same sentence, much less the same room.
So, ever optimistic, we tried again this last week so that our company could have their own bedroom and a little privacy (what privacy is available in a house with a two year old and a four year old). Though we’ve had some very sleepy days and a lot of extra naps, I’m definitely more hopeful this time around.
In our homeschool this week…
We’ve had fun learning about the weather, Handel’s Royal Fireworks music, and Van Gogh’s Fishing in the Spring picture. I think my new blogging schedule will be such that I will have to preview on Fridays rather than sum up, which means that all the fun I talk about today will show up throughout next week’s posts. I’m not sure how it worked out that way, perhaps VBS last week had something to do with it. But just so you know, the fun is still coming. And here’s the picture preview:
My son has also finished up the K4 readers officially this week and started the K5 A Beka readers today!
My favorite thing this week…
Did you know that when you can feel the water in the air and it makes you all hot and sticky, it’s called “humility”?
